It's no secret-this has been one hard, long winter, but spring is in the air. In January, I started checking on my Romanian Hellebore, which defies winter by beginning to bud despite the harsh weather. I know this photo isn't very clear, but she is quite beautiful in full bloom and acts as a salve against the relentless cold.
Lovely loaves and beer made by Trappist Monks also works wonders...
And now, off to the studio to begin the process of trimming.

I used to grow hellebore when I lived in the mountains and it always amazed me blooming so early, yours is just lovely.
Flowers through the snow. I've never seen a Hellebore. Beautiful bread.
