- My life began in the southern coalfields of West Virginia. I have been shaped by the extreme topography of these hills, which taught me to appreciate the rugged as well as the lush. My studio is in Charleston, West Virginia, twenty paces out my back door. It is painted a fetching color of purple and is surrounded by beautiful flowers of every kind.
